“I’m a 20-year veteran in the banking industry and decided at the end of last year to completely pivot my career and do something else,” she explained. “You know, I didn’t really have a lot of women to look up to. There weren’t that many women in banking and I do think that because of my upbringing I sort of just took every opportunity and said I’m gonna make the most of it.”

Throughout her career, Luzio said she noticed a lack of space for women to collaborate and network.

“I just felt like there were so many women reaching out and saying ‘Can I have a coffee? Can we talk about my career?’” she explained. “Why wasn’t there a space where you could not only meet other women and connect with them and network, but actually invest and develop yourself?”

In 2018 she launched Luminary in NYC, a workspace for women to network and grow professionally. The memberships are for women of all backgrounds and include amenities like nursing rooms, a salon, lounge areas, and meditation spots.

“It’s building meaningful connections and sustainable connections, right?” said Luzio. “Not just that business card exchange, but how do you not only support one another, inspire one another?”
