How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?** I am the founder and CEO of The Nourish Spot. I established it in March, 2016, six months after my senior global communications role was abruptly eliminated. That ended my 30+ year of climbing the corporate and non profit ladder having toiled for AARP, York College/CUNY and Prudential Financial, Inc successfully promoting their missions, programs, services, etc. After losing the gig, I was 53 and distraught. After managing my grief, I decided to establish The Nourish Spot with my two young adult children since I am a single mom. I funded the venture with my own funds and my children helped with the graphics, menu and setting up partnerships with local non profits so we could create our own talent pipeline through serving as a culinary and hospitality training ground. We are now nearly 5 years old and we are thriving. Thankfully because of the food we sell, we did not have to close during the pandemic and have been able to compete for and obtain grants to help keep us open and available to the community at large to nourish their temples. **What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?** Perseverance. I don’t give up! **What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, or in your business, and what did you learn from it?** Not pricing products correctly.   **What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?** Building financial acumen.   **How do you invite others to take a seat at the table?** By helping them in some way. **What is one thing you wish you knew a year ago?** To schedule time for rest and self care. **What impact has Luminary made in your career? eg: Business Generated, Revenue, New Clients, Career Connections, Advancement Opportunities ** I’m new .. seeking community, strategic partnerships, new clients and increased sales for The Nourish Spot!    @thenourishspot & @prmaven17 https://www.facebook.com/theNourishspot/ https://the-nourish-spot.myshopify.com/ ## Comments ### Luminary News News and Articles about Luminary. ### Subscribe for News Updates ### Topics - [Cate Luzio (30)](https://www.weareluminary.com/asseenin/tag/cate-luzio) - [Luminary Team Highlight (38)](https://www.weareluminary.com/asseenin/tag/luminary-team-highlight) - [Member Highlight (1)](https://www.weareluminary.com/asseenin/tag/member-highlight) - [News (73)](https://www.weareluminary.com/asseenin/tag/news) - [The Glass Ceiling (4)](https://www.weareluminary.com/asseenin/tag/the-glass-ceiling) [![Luminary-2](https://www.weareluminary.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Luminary-2.png?width=1081&height=1081&name=Luminary-2.png "Luminary-2")](https://www.weareluminary.com/home) ###### Location **NoMad** 1204 Broadway New York, NY 10001 (646) 876 - 8680   ###### Hours **Monday-Thursday** 8:30am - 7pm **Friday** 8:30am - 6pm **Saturday** 10am - 4pm ###### Social [**](https://twitter.com/weareluminary_) [**](https://www.linkedin.com/company/weareluminary) [**](https://www.instagram.com/weareluminary/) [**](https://www.facebook.com/weareluminary) ### Stay updated with our latest news and events. © 2022 Luminary Legacy, LLC.
