Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?

I am the founder and CEO of The Nourish Spot. I established it in March, 2016, six months after my senior global communications role was abruptly eliminated. That ended my 30+ year of climbing the corporate and non profit ladder having toiled for AARP, York College/CUNY and Prudential Financial, Inc successfully promoting their missions, programs, services, etc.

After losing the gig, I was 53 and distraught. After managing my grief, I decided to establish The Nourish Spot with my two young adult children since I am a single mom.

I funded the venture with my own funds and my children helped with the graphics, menu and setting up partnerships with local non profits so we could create our own talent pipeline through serving as a culinary and hospitality training ground. We are now nearly 5 years old and we are thriving. Thankfully because of the food we sell, we did not have to close during the pandemic and have been able to compete for and obtain grants to help keep us open and available to the community at large to nourish their temples.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

Perseverance. I don’t give up!
