Maritza E. Gonzalez

Maritza has 22+ years experience as an educator, researcher, and advocate in the diversity, equity and inclusion space. She has served as founding Officer of Equity & Diversity for two public school districts, establishing departments overseeing systemic Equity & Diversity initiatives, Translation/Interpreting services and Family Engagement, and was instrumental in establishing partnerships at the city, state and national levels. 

Originally from El Salvador, Maritza arrived to Washington, D.C. at the age of 6. She is bicultural, biliterate (English/Spanish), and was the first in her family to surpass middle school and to pursue higher education. She attended the University of Maryland, College Park where she earned several degrees, including Business Administration with specialties in Marketing and International Business and her doctorate in Education.

Maritza is married, has a young daughter and cherishes her time with family and friends. She serves on Prince George’s County Commission for Women, is a Board of Directors for the University of Maryland Capital Region Health and has over 30+ volunteer experiences supporting underserved communities.
