Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?
I've always loved the written word. After graduating with degrees in English and Brain & Cognitive Science, I worked in-house at a publisher for 6+ years in editorial and marketing roles. I eventually felt too far removed from the authors and their manuscripts and decided to strike out on my own, and I've been writing and editing independently for the last 5 years.
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, or in your business, and what did you learn from it?
I undervalued myself. I probably am still undervaluing myself as a result.
What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?
Setting boundaries with clients and staying within the scope of work.
How do you invite others to take a seat at the table?
I volunteer to mentor students at my alma mater who are interested in going into careers in writing/publishing.
What is one thing you wish you knew a year ago?
That we'd have a vaccine for COVID by 2021.
