Tell us a bit about yourself! How did you get started with your current career path/business journey?
I've been shooting weddings since 2012. My love for photography started with my move from Australia to London and buying my first SLR camera to document my travels. I became obsessed with photography and eventually was asked to shoot a friend’s wedding. That’s how I stumbled upon my dream job. At the time I was working a corporate job that I was not loving. It wasn’t easy, but I decided to take some time off to study at the London School of Photography and also second shoot with other established photographers. After that, I worked two jobs (corporate and weekend photography) for 2 years before jumping in full time and I haven't looked back since!
What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?
Persistence and grit.
What’s a mistake you made early on in your career, or in your business, and what did you learn from it?
Not having a clear focus and direction for my business and branding at the beginning and being susceptible to outside 'noise' - it took me years to really focus on my own path and find my niche. If I had of been clear from the start it probably would've been a shorter path to where I want to be.
What’s one professional skill you’re currently working on?
Public speaking.
How do you invite others to take a seat at the table?
I'm an open book and love to connect and collaborate.
What is one thing you wish you knew a year ago?
That while work is important, it's not the most important thing in life and I should focus more of my attention to those things that will matter most when I'm at the end of my life looking back. Whilst I probably knew this a year ago, I wasn't living my life that way.
